Accessibility statement

openmat.fi should be usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology. This service is volunteer-run and a work in progress; this statement is our own assessment, not an audited certification, and we update it as the site changes.
Our goal
As a practical target we aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA. This is a self-assessment; we have not commissioned a formal audit.
What we have done
- The site is built with semantic HTML and works without JavaScript — you can browse, filter and read every listing with scripting disabled.
- It is keyboard-navigable, form fields have labels, and interactive controls expose accessible names.
- Colour is not the only way information is conveyed, and we aim for sufficient text contrast in both the light and dark themes.
- Layouts are responsive and reflow to small screens and increased zoom.
- Uploaded images can carry alternative text, and decorative elements are hidden from assistive technology.
- The interface is available in Finnish and English, with the page language marked up for screen readers.
Known limitations
- The interactive maps (based on Leaflet) have limited screen-reader support. All information shown on a map is also available as text — the same clubs, addresses and times appear in the listings and on each club page — so no content is map-only.
- Some directory content is provided by third parties (clubs and organisers), and its formatting and completeness can vary.
- As a work in progress, some pages are more polished than others. If you hit a barrier, please tell us.
